Neustadt im Vogtland

„Aaan schön rund´n Barch hamm mir do hier. Dr Bezelbarch, er stieht in Neistood vor dr Tür.“ (We have a nice round mountain here, the Bezel Hill in front of the gates of Neustadt)
With these poetic lines in Vogtland dialect Poppengrün-based Gudrun Eppler idolizes her home town of Neustadt im Vogtland with its suburbs Neustadt, Poppengrün, Neudorf, Oberwinn and Siebenhitz. At the base of the 638 metre high Bezelberg lies the suburb Neustadt, for which the entire community is named. On the newly designed outlook platform many visitors meet from near and far each year for the outdoor Ascension service.

Centre of the multiple winner of the "Our village should be prettier" state contest and awarded for town renewal of the community of Neustadt is the attractive village square with the town house. Not far is the “Am Brunne” plaza and the Bezelberg stadium as a highly modern sporting arena with a public playground.

Ecologically intactgreen forests and landscapes are a paradise for hikers and friends of nature. Serene surroundings include the Trinkwassertalsperre Werda (dam) and the agricultural and forest areas of the nature park Erzgebirge - Vogtland. Nearby there is the Bezelberg (mountain) with an outlook platform that offers an amazing view of the northern and western parts of the Vogtland.

And for those wanting to try the typical culinary cuisine of the Vogtland the dish "Grünen Klößen" (green dumplings) is a must!
