Neustadt (Dosse)
The equine city with its suburbs Plänitz-Leddin and Roddahn was already mentioned as early as in the 13th and 14th century but was only granted Town privileges in 1664. The oldest building in the city is the Wehrkirche (Fortified Church) in Kampehl, which was built in the 13th century. In an annex of the church lies the Mummy of the Knight Kahlbutz, which is viewed by thousands of visitors each year.
In 1788, the Neustädter Gestüte (stud farm) was founded. The listed building on the spacious premises was completely renovated and continues to be used for horse breeding by the State of Brandenburg. Each year in September thousands of guests are delighted by the traditional stallion parade. Many riding, biking and hiking trails are available around Neustadt (Dosse) and are not only accessible to horse lovers. Horse herds on the plains, vast forests and the banks of Dosse are perfect reasons for taking long strolls in an exciting natural landscape.
The gas plant as a unique technical landmark, the stud farm museum and the carriage museum with its numerous ridable carriages, the arboretum or the various exhibitions in Castle Kampehl are great places to visit. Summer swimming fun is guaranteed at the solar-heated open-air pool directly at the Dosse.
