Neustadt am Rübenberge

The City Neustadt am Rübenberge with its 34 suburbs is located in the Nature Park Steinhuder Meer, the most significantrecreational area in the Hanover region. In the heart of the city lies the medieval castle of Landestrost, beautiful half-timbered houses and a charming pedestrian zone for shopping and spending time.

Vast bogland, swimming meadows, old trees, ice agemoraines and last but not least the largest lake in Northwest Germany, the Steinhuder Meer, show the unique diversity of the nature park's landscape. On observation decks like the Großenheidorner Turm, activity paths through the bog, as well as signposted hiking and bike trails, can be experienced directly in this natural paradise with its fascinating animal and plant life. With a little bit of luck the king of the air, the white-tailed eagle, can be observed. In the suburb Mardorf, the state acknowledged spa town on the northern banks of the Steinhuder Meer, visitors can enjoy the approximately 4-km long riverside path, the beach at the white dunes and the 18-hole golf course along with numerous exciting things to do like sailing, surfing and kite surfing.
